Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here you can (hopefully) find the answers to your questions. If not, you can reach me using the contact form I’ll do my best to answer it… and then probably post the answer here for future reference!

What happened to the star ratings?

I want my reviews to encourage open-mindedness and thoughtful consideration of each audiobook’s merits and drawbacks. By removing star ratings, I aim to reduce the potential for preconceived biases that numerical scores can introduce.

For a full explanation, I encourage you to check out my blog post Beyond the Stars: It’s Time for Change which goes into much greater detail.

How do I redeem a code?

To redeem a code, you must redeem via the ACX Promo page on Audible. The links for the US and UK stores are:

The promo code didn’t work/was invalid.

Promo codes for free downloads of an audiobook are added by the author and/or narrator. We have no control over if they are valid codes or not. If you try to claim a code that Audible reports as invalid, there is nothing we can do about that. Feel free to let us know though, and if someone is abusing the system, we can take steps to stop them.

You can also try reaching out to the Author / Narrator and find out why the code didn’t work. Perhaps they simply mistyped it.

I’m an author/narrator. How can I add my codes?

To add your audiobook and giveaway codes, list your book using our form. You will need to supply a cover image, book details, and promotion codes. Once we receive your order and give all the details a quick check to ensure everything is okay, it’ll be available to our users!

What happened to the audiobook proofing service?

Owing to some personal external factors, The Audiobook Review is no longer offering audiobook proofing services. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those authors and producers that have trusted our services in the past, but we no longer have the time to commit to this.

Do you accept media releases?

Yes! The Audiobook Review is now accepting media releases for publication on our blog. Media releases must be in some way related to audiobooks – such as an announcement from an author or narrator about a newly available book or series. Media releases should:

  • Be at least 400 words in length
  • Include at least one image – jpeg format
  • The image should be at least 1400×1400 pixels

Acceptance and publication of media releases is at the sole discretion of The Audiobook Review. You may also submit media releases related to products and/or services tangential to audiobooks; however these will have much tighter acceptance guidelines. Requests for product reviews may also be accepted.

Media releases and related requests should be emailed to [email protected]
