Review by: The Audiobook ReviewOkay, so before I even get started, I must remind people about not judging books by their covers. I have no idea what the cover of Dark Drink and Conversation by Thomas Kennedy is supposed to represent. I guess it did pull my eye though, and I gave it a shot and enjoyed the heck of this cozy mystery doused in a bucket of Irish humour.
Set in the confines of Mulligans Pub, we get to experience the goings-on of the locals and the mischief they get up to. Pervert flashers saving lives. The Catholic Curate investigated for the murder of a drug kingpin and supply of pornographic CDs, the Incredible Hulk, a burglar, and pole dancers looking for husbands, just to name some of the colourful characters you'll meet.
Going into this I had no idea how compelling a story that Kennedy had actually created. Lots of plot being weaved in and out between the large cast of supporting characters, and told with such warmth and mirth, I found myself compelled to keep listening long after I should have put it away for the night.
The narrator, Gerard Doyle, did a great job with the narration. Being set in Dublin, Ireland, I did wonder if some of the accents might come on too strong, but that turned out not to be the case. Well produced, with no audio issues noted and a smooth flow.

Look past the cover of this and give it ago. You'll find yourself being sucked into this mystery and loving the locals.I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I have not let this gift affect nor influence my opinions of this audiobook and have left an honest review.
