Relatable Drudgery

Review by: The Audiobook ReviewThis was a quick, fun, but ultimately forgettable read. Doctor Frankenstein creates his monster who then goes to work in an IT support centre. The stories worked well, but I think the author, James Livingood, could have pushed the envelope much further.

Having spent a great deal of my life in IT departments, the people on the other end of the phone sounded familiar, yet while there was comedy to be had, I still was left feeling a little... meh.

Frankenstein (yes yes I know the arguments how the name belongs to the creator, not the monster but I use it for the sake of brevity... which this explanation is now ruining) had the downtrodden, almost boring personality of someone stuck taking phone calls from people who can't think for themselves, but also possessed a kind of child-like naivety and a sense he was doing some good in the world.

Narration by Michael Gilboe was fine, nothing out of the box but a solid Frankie nonetheless.

TL;DR of this one probably boils down to fun, but I don't think I'll be in any hurry to listen to it again.
