Couldn't Get Into It

Review by: The Audiobook ReviewAll things being equal, The Sky Above by A.G.R. Goff sounded like it'd be right up my alley. Post-apocalyptic sci-fi generally appeals to me... but this I couldn't get into. There wasn't anything particularly "wrong" with the story as such, but I found I really didn't care about the characters.

After a religion-fuelled war that sees nukes detonated in major cities, two friends come together in a bid to survive what comes next. Again, I couldn't find myself connecting enough with them to care to get involved in their fate.

I gave this a few days off, listening to some other things to see if my mind would change. I hoped I'd feel it calling me back to find out how it all ended, but in the end, I moved on.

Narration by Andrew James Roberts is solid enough. I don't think it was the characterisations that held me back on this one.

TL;DR - I couldn't get into to.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I have not let this gift affect nor influence my opinions of this audiobook and have left an honest review.
