Can Peter Walker find true love, or is he destined to only share a bed with his moody pet cat, Mr. Tiddles?

Helped on his quest to find the perfect woman by his irresponsible best friend, Dave. What could possibly go wrong? Pete wants that Romeo and Juliet level of passion, whereas his friend thinks Shrek and Donkey is the benchmark for love. Chaos ensues as Pete runs the dating gauntlet. Is uninhibited fitness fanatic Penny the one or cat crazy Miranda? Perhaps muscle-bound Lila, whose hobbies include martial arts and car theft?

Meanwhile, disillusioned barmaid Maze finds that her life has already hit a dead-end at 24. Single and in a job she hates. Lurching from one bad relationship to another and not really knowing where life is heading. She can't get a break, especially with a serial killer on the loose, as every date just might be her last.

Will a chance encounter change their lives, or is it all bound to end badly? Especially as Pete is suffering from recurring memory loss and keeps waking up in strange places - dressed in a rather fetching all-black outfit with matching leather gloves.

A darkly humorous comedy about finding love. Contains Adult Humour.

Dark and Bawdy Romantic Comedy

Review by: Morgan HobbesBound to End Badly, written by R. L. Tiochta, is a superb example of dark romantic comedy. Set in Derby (UK), and follows Peter and Maze as they stumble through the dating scene and ever so slowly towards each other. Tiochta gives us alternating glimpses into the lives of Peter and Maze, where something isn't quite right... and not just because there's a serial killer on the loose.

For a story handled in such a humorous, lightweight telling, there's also a serious, darker side that unravels ever so slowly. Glimpses and hints are peppered throughout. The characters are easy to like and root for, easy to connect with so you get fully invested in their struggles.

I listened to this in two sittings because I just couldn't stop. I needed to know what was happening, what came next, what was really going on. It kept me hooked into way too late in the night for someone who also works a day job.

It's hard to say too much without giving away some major plot points, so I'll refrain from that. Instead what I will say is I could picture this being adapted into a funny, if rather bawdy, romantic comedy for the screen. The story played out so vividly in my mind, a mark of a great story being told.

Narration by the talented Sarah Kempton was excellent and suited the story and characters well. This is the second book I've heard done by Sarah and will be keeping my eyes open for more. Great timing and delivery, no production issues that I noticed. Distinct character voices. All around great job.
