A Worthy Sequel

Review by: The Audiobook ReviewIt had been some time since I'd listened to the first book in this series (Orconomics), and after listening to the first five minutes of this book, I stopped and went back and re-listened to all of book one because I couldn't for the life of me remember anything about it, beyond of a few key points.

Having reacquainted myself with the universe, I ploughed straight on into this one. If anything, I think Pike has really kicked it up a notch with this book. The first one took me a while to get into (the same thing the second time around), but this one I got into pretty early on.

Our band of heroes, having survived the events of the first book, are now branded as outlaws and now live a life on the run. Rather unfairly, but the corporate greed satirised by the novels cares little for the honest folk and would rather busy itself making bucketloads of cash instead.

We get a lot of backstory of the characters in this one (at almost double the length of the first, there's a lot packed in), which I found nice to have. There's the (no spoilers) obvious one that had to be there that tied the books together nicely.

Narrated once again by Doug Tisdale Jr was decent, with consistency between the books - particularly noticeable as I listened to them back to back. Fewer issues with this one, so much so that I didn't make a note of anything that annoyed me.

Narration Sample

Book three is still a work in progress, but I'll certainly be seeking out a copy once it's released.
